These prints were reproduced from National Archives (Still Pictures Branch) Record Group 26. The National Archives identification number is cross referenced in the finding aid. Several photos depict the whaling operations of the American Pacific Whaling Co. at Akutan in the Aleutian Islands. Also included are images of skin houses, barabara, Eskimos butchering a walrus, a Native girl forming mukluk soles, a whale butchering, Old Russian block house at Sitka, the mission, parsonage, trading post and hospital at Point Barrow, graveyard at Point Hope.
